Goin’ Green
Lately I’ve been trying to ‘go green’ on some things around our house. We always recycle our cans, plastics, etc (and we have to pay for it whether we use the recycle bins provided by our garbage company whether we use them or not so we might as well use them.) But it constantly bothers me to see how many things are still wasted on a day to day basis. Plastic bags, paper, etc. It started with purchasing reusable grocery totes. Then we started purchasing energy saving light bulbs and replaced our shower head with a more efficient one. All of our appliances are energy saving but we still have a long way to go.
I’ve been reading more and more about it lately and have been digging this site that offers a ton of eco products. They offer everything from energy saving appliances to solar powered products. Last week when we had to replace every bulb for the outdoor lighting at our house I was really wishing we had solar charged lighting instead. I know we’d save a lot of money in the long run not having to replace the bulbs nor running the electricity to power them. You can ask anyone in my family. I go a little nuts when people leave lights on needlessly!
GreenandMore appears to practice what they preach by following green practices on-site such as no plastic ware, using recycled office supplies and kitchen goods, 100% recycled cardboard boxes, etc. I thought it was pretty cool that they support environmental charities such as Oceana and Healthy Child Healthy World.
Lastly, I’ve added a new blog to my reader: GreenMusings.com which offers green lifestyle tips including ways to reuse and recycle. Every little bit helps, ya know?
What are you doing to ‘go green’?
awesome, totally cool, and rockin’
I’m totally wigged out that it’s Wednesday already. I swear I posted no more than two days ago but the calendar says it was five days ago. Madness. Being a busy full time working mom does that to a person I guess.
About my birthday: Jack invited several friends over, some of which I haven’t seen or hung out with in a long time, so that was awesome. Cathy and her daughter and grandson stopped by for a short visit on Saturday, so that was totally cool. We got the mega grocery shopping done on Sunday that was LONG overdue so that rocked. It was an awesome, totally cool, and rockin’ birthday weekend!
Thanks to everyone who wished me a happy birthday!
Birthday
Can I boycott my birthday? No? OK fine. I’m still turning 29 though. Again. It’s allowed. And no I’m not one year away from ….. well lets just say I’m really into my late 30’s now. Since I’m declaring myself only 29 (forever) how about you send me Macys coupons for my birthday? I’ll then go shopping at the new Macy’s that opened (that used to be Meier and Frank) at our local mall so I can re-live what it was like to buy expensive trendy clothing and accessories and not worry about bills and children and it can be all about me. It’s what being in your 20’s is all about! And like I said, I’m 29 now. (again) No really.
Jack has something planned for this evening. I’m not 100% sure what but he kinda spilled the beans yesterday when he insisted I couldn’t have a small round cake or a few cupcakes for my birthday. Apparently we must get a bigger cake. I’m anxious to know why!
Happy Birthday Tracie!
Happy Birthday to you…

Haapppy Birrrrrrrthday dear Tracie!
Happy Birthday to you!
Hope you have a wonderful day sweetheart!
No T13 today…
First, I need to apologize for not replying to emails or comments this week. I’m still sick and busy as all heck this week. Work, kids, house… you know the drill. I’ve barely had time to breathe let alone blog. (And it still hurts to breathe…) I also love doing Thursday Thirteen posts but it’s not happening this week.
We have been watching American Idol though. The guys are strong this year while the girls are just ‘eh’. My favorite so far is Michael Johns. Yours?
