- I love my new computer. I never came back to post last weekend about it. I meant to but I was too busy playing with the fastness and uberness that is this computer. Jack beat me to it anyway. His version of how this all went together is mostly accurate. Except the part about my having a lot of stuff. I have one corner in the house with my stuff: My desk, my computer, and the stuff that goes on it. That’s IT. HE on the other hand has a garage full of his
junktools and computer stuff, an entire walk-in closet, PLUS his desk full of hiscrapstuff. How can he complain about my little corner of the house?? - I love my new desk too. Here’s a picture of my old desk as it looked in our old house. It was perfect for that house. Here’s the desk I just got over the weekend. Imagine the old one in the this corner covering up most of the window. It sucked. I like my new one much better especially since I can hide my diabetes paraphernalia in the little glass covered sections.
- A couple months ago the people behind us put their house up for sale. This was awesome because they annoyed us. They had a drum set they let their kids bang on incessantly and very badly. The kids taunted our dogs which made them bark like lunatics and they would talk Cody into pitching his toys over the fence to them. I seriously considered living my dream of getting into real estate flipping right then and there just so I could buy their house and make them move out faster. They are gone now but the house is still up for sale. I wonder why kind of new neighbors we’ll get?
- I’m seriously behind on laundry and really should be doing that instead of posting this.
- Technorati sucks. Is there a Technorati for Dummies site somewhere? They index my posts just fine by not my tags. Ever. It stopped about six months ago. Yet, still I try and still I wait for their (seemingly non-existent) support department to get back to me. I know I’m not the only one with this problem… Maybe I should give up on them.
- Tomorrow is February 1st. How is it even possible that it’s a month into 2008 already?

(lol)My Co-Worker Barry on UFO Hunters!
Last night we watched my Co-Worker Barry Fisher on an episode of UFO Hunters! It was about the first UFO sighting before the 1947 Rosewell New Mexico incident. There were 6 UFO’s sighted around the Puget Sound area where a boater claims to have seen 6 UFO’s flying above their boat. One was having some sort of trouble and dumped what they called “A massive amount of molten slag” from their ship, then rejoined the other 5 ships.
The slag damaged the man’s boat, killed his dog and broke his son’s arm. The army sent a team of investigators up to the Puget sound to gather some of this slag and other evidence a week later and on the return trip the plane had a mysterious fire during it’s flight and crashed down outside of Kelso, Wa.
Two men were able to jump to safety while the two pilots took the plane away from populated areas to crash into the woods. Both pilots died and one of them was Barry’s great uncle.
It was a very interesting story! (The show was rather anti-climactic as they combed the area and found no conclusive evidence left after 60 years, but it was cool to see them look up Barry and see him get to talk with the UFO hunter guys.)
Our dentists love us – thursday thirteen #21

Get the Thursday Thirteen code here!
It all started in November when our family dentist notified Jack that we were all overdue for our checkups and stuff:
- December 3rd: Melissa had her checkup/cleaning appointment
- December 10th: Kevin’s checkup/cleaning
- December 10th: My checkup/cleaning where I found out I had cavities… the horror!
- December 10th: Jack had an appointment for a cavity filling (separate from mine and Kevin’s appointment earlier in the day)
- December 12: Casey’s checkup/cleanings
- December 12: Cody’s checkup/cleaning
- December 17: Melissa had a cavity filled
- January 14th: Kevin had orthodontist appointment where he found out he’s still not quite done with the braces
- January 23rd: Kevin got a cavity filled
- January 23rd: I had a treatment for early stages of periodontal disease. (Yeah I didn’t want to mention that in my Bye Bye Perfect Teeth post. I was already ashamed enough!)
- January 28: Kevin had another appointment to have the last cavity filled.
- January 29: Kevin had an another orthodontist appointment where he found out he wouldn’t be getting his braces off. (Be happy you weren’t the one driving him home after that appointment.)
- January 29: Jack had an appointment to get his last cavity filled (separate time than Kevin’s)
- January 30: Melissa had an appointment to get a cavity filled
- January 30: Casey had an appointment to get his first ever cavities (tiny ones) filled and sealants applied.
- January 30: Cody had an appointment to get sealants put on his teeth. (No cavities)
Ok so that’s 16. Sixteen. Dentists. Appointments. In two months. Most of us are done now though.. Hallelujah! Oh wait. I said most. OK so everyone is done, except me. I still have the periodontal treatments and the cavities to deal with. Can you tell I’m overjoyed? At least I don’t go back till March. And Kevin should be getting his braces off in four weeks. (I’m not holding my breath.)
I think our family dentists have made enough money to book themselves and their staff Vegas rooms after the amount of money we’ve thrown at them this year…. heck, just in the last two months!
The purpose of the meme is to get to know everyone who participates a little bit better every Thursday. Visiting fellow Thirteeners is encouraged! If you participate, leave the link to your Thirteen in others’ comments. It’s easy, and fun! Trackbacks, pings, comment links accepted!

Lions and Tigers and Dentists oh My!
Ok, well maybe not lions and tigers, but at this point I’m more scared of Dentists. We’ve had three dentist appointments this week in our family and that was just by Tuesday.
I’m 1 crown away from having NOTHING wrong with my teeth though! So excited! (Although the weirdest thing happened while I was getting a few cavities drilled out; I fell asleep in the dentist chair three times and started to snore. I could hear myself snoring louder than the dentist drill in my head. It’s definitely been a long week…)
Kevin on the other hand has at least 4 more weeks of braces to go. He’s growing a new tooth in his mouth with no matching tooth on the bottom. Maybe he’s part shark?
Anyway, they’re putting a bracket on it so that it doesn’t grow out of control, which will give him the option of getting an implant to match it later in life if he so decides.
The poor kid was just heartbroken when he found out that yesterday wasn’t to be his Independence Day from braces. (To make things worse, there was another kid there getting his braces out and they had balloons and gifts and party favors…)
Wish him luck.
Halo 2
Got the XBox swapped out at Game Crazy and this one worked fine, including the network interface. So we played some 5 player (We didn’t have enough bodies for 8 player… or joysticks..) Slayer matches, capture the flag and a fun game called Monster Trucks. This is basically crash up derby with the armored Warthog jeeps they have in Halo. Very fun!
Rumor has it you can play multiplayer Star Wars Battlefront II and Brute Force, So we’re going to be looking for what types of games we can actually play as a family this way!
Other than that, a relatively uneventful day. (Which was very nice for a change)
