Question Merry-Go-Round?

Stolen from Ben: (again)

Here’s how this one works:

  1. Leave a comment on this entry with some varient of “interview me”.
  2. I’ll ask you 5 questions and you reply with your answers in your LJ (blog) and offer to do this for other people…
  3. Repeat until the web collapes under the weight of our useless posting :)

Ben’s (hard) questions for me:

1. What would you say the hardest thing you ever done is? When I look back on my life to seek the hardest thing, I realize I’ve had a fairly easy life, at least since I became an adult. My childhood wasn’t easy but I don’t think it is for anyone. The first thought that did come to mind was: “being alive in 2006″. This whole year has been hard. One of the hardest I can ever remember. With my mother’s accident, family “issues” resulting from that, and then standing with my family around my stepdad as we turned off life support and watched him fade. That was pretty damn hard.

2. If the worlds greatest teacher walked up to you and offered to teach you one thing, What would you learn? There are so many things I’d love to learn. I’d love to learn many different languages. I’d love to learn to play an instrument. And I’d love to learn to sing. I’ve always wanted to be the kind of mother who could sing to her children. But right now if I sang to them it’d probably traumatize them for life. So if I can only pick one thing, I guess teaching me to sing (well) would be it. I love singing, but I’m awful.

3. What would you do if you woke up as a man tomorow? Pee standing up. duh! I’m so jealous that guys can do that. I’d find a bush outside, too. Just ’cause. After that who knows. I’d probably go out into the world and explore what it’s like to be a man. Wait? Is it permanent? ‘Cause if it is, then my answer changes a bit. If I woke up as a man tomorrow and it was permanent, I’d still find a bush and pee standing up. After that I’d completely freak out and find a shrink or a doctor or something to fix me!

4. What are your views on how the world is going? I assume you mean in general… so generally speaking, I think the world is going round & round as usual, but things could be a lot better. Seems history continues to repeat itself and mankind never learns. As such we continue to kill our planet, and each other.

5. If you could alter the world in one way, what would it be? This is a very hard question, especially coming from you, Ben, knowing the kind of man you’re striving to be and what you want to do with your life. I feel a sense of pressure to come up with some profound, meaningful, and inspiring answer and I don’t have one. I’m not sure how you mean “the world”. Humans in general? Or the planet? Or again generally speaking? For my own selfish reasons, the first thing that comes to mind is removing diseases such as diabetes. Living with Diabetes is like constantly having a sick joke played on you. You’re alive, you’re breathing, and you can live with the disease. But quality of life takes a hit. Having to constantly worry about what you’re putting into your mouth is doing to you, even though you absolutely need to eat, sucks. And I totally suck at being a diabetic. I also don’t like contributing to the pharmaceutical companies who make billions off all the diabetic supplies people like me need. It’s another sick joke that I think is unfair. So I guess that’s my answer. Lame? Yeah.

Photos Gone.. for Good

Due to some freak who hacked the photos section of this site, the photos sections has been removed. The script that displayed them, all the photos, etc, are gone. I don’t have time to maintain it anyway. If I have any cool photos to share, I’ll just upload them to an entry here…

I have the photos still.. I just do not have them online anymore.

Before getting upset about the SCA photos and such disappearing, please understand that I was SERIOUSLY hacked and SERIOUSLY exploited. Our domain is now blocked by several ISP’s, spamcop, etc. The hack involved an exploit that allowed someone to upload a paypal and email scam. Basically an email went out to thousands upon thousands of people telling them their paypal account needed update. They were directed to THIS site to provide their information. That information was then collected and sent to some freak stealing identies. If you received such an email my sincere apologies.

I’m not 100% sure which script was used to exploit my account. But I’m 90% sure it was Coppermine.. the script that the photos were maintained and displayed with. I did not update it to the latest secure version fast enough.

Right now I’m dealing with 15,309 bounce back messages. That’s right.. at least 15,300 people were emailed from MY account with this scam.. and didn’t have valid email addresses. Who know how many emails were successfully delivered.

Fortunately someone who got such an email reported it to the web host and action was taken immediately. My account was suspended within less than 24 hours after being exploited.. but that’s long enough apparently.

As soon as I removed the exploits, and unsuspended the account, I started getting hits for people looking for the paypal folder that was created. Not good!

I deal with this on a regular basis from the other end. I work for the web host.. so I deal with customers who have this happen to them. So it’s pretty embarrassing to have it happen to me. The web host did nothing wrong.. it was my own fault for not keeping my scripts on this account up to date.

Let this be a lesson to anyone who maintains a website: keep it updated and keep it secure. You don’t want your domain associated with paypal scams!!

FYI: I’ll be taking Kirianna.com down as well. I don’t have time to maintain two websites. The domain will be parked on this account to resolve here.

My apologies for any inconvenience.
