Update

Sorry but I’m crunched for time so I’m just going to copy the update I sent to my bosses:

Hey,

As some of you know, my stepfather has had on-going health issues for a while. He did get two broken ribs in the car accident.. that may have caused more issues. Then last night he was re-admitted to the hospital after he collapsed due to the other issues (that may or may not have been aggravated by the broken ribs??). This morning he ‘crashed’ and had to be intubated. He’s now in ICU. (My poor mom heard the ‘code 99′ to his room number over the intercom.)

Obviously this complicates things quite a bit. I’ve got my mom on one floor about to go into surgery to repair her broken back (she’s going to receive a rod and pins and donor bone — that’s all know about what’s going to be done during the surgery. The L1 vertebrae was mangled.) And I’ve got my step dad on life support on another floor….

I honestly don’t know how long I’m going to be down here. I’m a few hundred miles from home and staying with my aunt (my mom’s sister) through this. (I miss my husband and kids!) I may also have to cancel my trip to California depending on how things go. I have an non-refundable ticket so I dunno what’s going to happen with that…

The internet connection here is sporadic.. It drops me every 20 minutes or so and takes several minutes to come back up, then I have to accept this disclaimer thing every time it comes back. I don’t know what that’s about. I’m not even sure I’m supposed to be using their wireless internet so I am afraid to ask anyone.

I broke my aunt’s connection to both their computer and my laptop at her house this morning so.. yeah. Dunno what that’s about either. (Hey, I’ve never used DSL!) Hopefully my uncle can fix it. (oops)

So anyway… I’m available by my cell phone at least and I’m going to send this before I get dropped again.
