2005 Recap
I’ve done this for the last couple years (2003, 2004) so here it is again, a 2005 recap:
January
Started the year with my stepdad, Bob, in the hospital. It was scary for a while but he’s better now. Kevin made the honor roll and was presented with a special certificate that is now framed as a reminder of his potential.
February
The company Jack’s job outsourced to was bought out so his employer changed yet again, even though it’s still the same job. (Rumor has it they were bought out AGAIN!) Jack, with the help of both his co-workers, and mine, as well as friends surprised me on Valentine’s day with my birthday present (early): A 7 day trip to Hawaii. Spent my birthday and the rest of February in beautiful sunny Hawaii. A trip I’ll *never* forget!
March
Cody turned 4. Mount St. Helen’s was jumpy and coughed up some pretty ash clouds. Jack’s new employer took effect.
April
Started off the month feeling under appreciated and bummed about my job. Engaged in some shopping therapy and bought new curtains and valances for our house. Shopping therapy must work because while I was picking out the curtains, my bosses called me and offered me a promotion. It meant sucky hours but better pay and more responsibilities. I accepted. Jack put together a nifty laptop for me to work on which I LOVE and still use most of the time since it allows me to be mobile while working. Took the kids on a spring beach trip and spent the night in Seaside.
May
Helped my brother move to Vancouver. I’m so happy he’s closer. We see each other a lot more now. Found out I’d lost a lot more weight. Celebrated Mother’s day with the best family in the world. Went on our first camping SCA event of the season and had a blast. I had to have all my garb taken in.
June
Katherine turned 14. Celebrated Father’s day. Last day of school for the kids.
July
Casey turned 7. Melissa got hurt on a nail and had to have a shot. A first in many years for her. Had a huge 4th of July party. It was a blast. Got a lot of little home improvement projects finished. Ditched our old cell phone plan and got a new service and 2 cool new phones. Finally got Randy’s skin condition under control. Jack got promoted at his job.
August
Painted Melissa’s room. Witnessed our freaky neighbors freak out on each other. Took the older kids to Rockfest (fun!). Celebrated our 6th wedding anniversary and 11th year together in historical Newport, OR.
September
Took the kids to the beach and got rained on. Kids back to school. Celebrated Jack’s birthday with a big Hawaiian Birthday Bash. Went to our second (and last) SCA camping event for the year. Took the kids on a trip to see Mount St. Helen’s. Started watching my neighbor’s daughter in the mornings and after school.
October
Cody got bit by our neighbor’s dog. 
I got yet another stye and ended up having eye surgery that freaked me out. Jack spent a lot of time at his brother’s new house getting it fixed up and helped them move in. Took the kids to the pumpkin patch, volunteered at Scream at the Beach, and had a fun Halloween.
November
Jackie turned 11. Kayla turned sweet 16. Jack, me, and a few kids came down with a nasty cough, spent Thanksgiving with Jack’s grandmother. Our dryer blew up so we got a new washer and dryer.
December
Kevin turned 14. Melissa turned 10. We spent much of December being tortured by weather forecasters saying it would snow and then it didn’t. Got a wimpy ice storm on Melissa’s birthday which made her birthday party interesting. Went overboard on Christmas. Got sick again. I got promoted again at my job (to Assistant Manager). Jack lost his cell phone, then broke mine. Spent most of the holiday season in a rush, which I’m vowing to not do again. Brought in the new year differently than we’ve done in the years past since it wasn’t spent with the usual crowd, but we still had fun at our small party.
