Little Home Improvements

Yesterday Jack and I decided to put in our window air conditioner. The summer so far as been very mild with temps averaging around 70. But the was a forcast for 85-90 this week (hasn’t happened yet). Now they say 80-85, but that’s still kinda warm. We didn’t actually get it accomplished till today, though.

Last year when we bought our air conditioner, we were talked into buying this metal support for it. What a waste of $30 bucks!. All year I was nervous that the hugeass heavy metal box would fall. It didn’t happen but I told Jack I wish we had built an old-fashioned wooden support instead. So this year that’s what he did. It turned out so much nicer and sturdier and cost us a lot less than the metal piece of crap we ended up throwing away. :(

We also picked up a shower organizer. Our bathrub/shower has NO space for anything. It has a little dipped in area you can put a bar of soap and hang a washcloth, but other than that, nada. We had shampoo bottles stacked on the corners of the tub and above the tub (where there was just enough space on the top corner of the shower to fit a bottle of shampoo) and it drove me crazy. For a while we had a shower caddy that fit over the shower head, but when we got a new shower head, the caddy didn’t work anymore. So we just dealt with it for months. Today we got a chrome treated metal one that goes from the corner of the tub to the ceiling with four little corner shelves. I put that together and with Kevin’s help got it installed in the bathroom while Jack built the air conditioner support. Everything fits in it perfectly and looks so much better!

The air conditioner support turned out very nice, too! It was a fun little productive night. :)
