2004 Recap
So, I did this last year and wanted to do it again this year. Here’s the recap of our year (a bit late).
January 2004
We started the year with snow, which turned to ice, and had one of the nastiest ice storms I have witnessed since I was a child. Jack got to rescue computers from a sewer pipe that burst at work (ewww!). We got a corner breakfast nook set and finished it, and put up a border in our kitchen.
February 2004
Celebrated my mom’s birthday, Valentine’s day and went to the beach for my birthday. Cleaned up broken tree limbs from the ice storm, and started yardwork to get ready for spring…. and never quite finished that. (It’s never done!)
March 2004
This was a strange month for me. I began my first full time job in over 10 years. I also had to deal with and come to terms with some personal family issues. Cody turned 3. More yardwork and cleaning up broken trees from the ice storm. Melissa lost a tooth.
April 2004
A very emotional month. I met (over the phone) for the first time my half-sister I’ve known about since I was 10, but never got to meet. Found out that both my grandparents on my father’s side died and no one told me. Got a small inheritance and bought our family a much needed “kidmobile” (minivan), and set aside the rest for Kevin’s braces. A boy in Melissa’s class was killed by the neighbor’s dogs. We celebrated Easter.
May 2004
Jack’s job officially out-sourced and he was told he’d be getting paid almost the same amount of money as last year but at a fraction of the overtime. Celebrated Mother’s Day. We did lots of yard work. (Why can’t you tell??)
June 2004
Summer started! Kids got out of school in late June. Celebrated Katherine’s 13th birthday. Got a new fish tank and a bunch of fish. Celebrated our one year anniversary of becoming homeowners.
July 2004
Two SCA events: Went to California for An Tir / West War and William Tell, it was very hot (and a frog jumped on my face in the night!), my mom was sort of on TV (lol), Casey turned 6, had a garage sale that flopped, saw Spiderman II.
August 2004
Jack tried out for Survivor for the first time, we celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary, Kevin got his braces, we got a new entertainment center, Casey lost his first teeth, Casey tried out his hair styling skills by giving Cody a haircut.
September 2004
Back to school for the kids, celebrated Jack’s birthday, Cody finally decided to ditch the diapers (woohoo!), I worked a ton of overtime, Cody cried every day because he wanted to go to school, too! He doesn’t do that anymore, thankfully.
October 2004
Halloween month! We volunteered at Scream at the Beach with Kevin and Katherine, Jack feared for his job as several co-workers were laid off, Cody started a Godzilla obsession (that he still has, like father, like son), I was diagnosed with diabetes.
November 2004
Thanksgiving month! Kayla turned 15, Jackie turned 10, went to a play with Melissa’s class, hosted turkey day for my family, lost Cody at the mall
.
December 2004
Christmas! Insanely busy month for our family. Hosted Christmas for my family, Kevin turned 13, Melissa turned 9, and one of the worst disasters in our lifetime occured (Tsunami). Brought in the new year with good friends.
I’m sure I missed some things but I believe those are the highlights. Thus ended another year our for crazy-busy, family.
Test
This is a Test post for my LP buddies. You should see this on the new server.
Bob is home! :)
Bob is home and doing well. He bounced back very very fast, physically. Mentally took a bit longer as he was distorted and confused about what happened. Oxygen depravation and being in a coma for a week definitely takes a toll on the brain. Thanks for the thoughts and prayers.
This weekend we had a mild ice storm. It started out pretty nasty and our power even flickered a few times, streets and highways were shut down, people panicked, the usual. But then it mellowed out and was gone by Sunday noontime.
We’ve been busy busy. When we’re not busy with the kids and doing chores, we’ve been playing EverQuest 2.
It’s been so cold and wet that it’s the perfect time of year for indoor games.
I’ve been wanting to post a 2004 re-cap like I did last year for 2003, but there’s just been so much going on that I haven’t had the time to do a long post like that. Hopefully I can soon because it’s fun to look back.
2005 sure seemed to start out depressing, and stressful. With Bob getting sick, ending the year with the world’s most devastating natural disaster in our lifetime, work-woes for both Jack and I (Jack more than I but I’ll let him tell that story — mine was just normal every day frustration), etc. But things are looking up already and I think I can finally relax a bit and enjoy the fact that we have started a new year.
Same drug, different brand?
Friday night we knew there was an ice storm pending so we did what everyone else does, we went shopping.
Mainly to get the staples (like coffee!). I also realized I only had enough of my Metformin to last me till Sunday morning. Oops. Luckily the store we were at had a pharmacy that was still open and I happened to have the prescription in my purse. The pills they gave me were different, as in, different shape, different numbers on the pills, etc. I asked the pharmacist about that, and she explained that different places might use different brands.
Well, I feel like I’m having to adjust to the medication all over again. Nausea, etc. I wonder if that’s normal? The dosage is the same…so you’d think they’d be the same thing? Maybe it’s all in my head… or maybe I’m coming down with sometime. ? …
Good news after all!
… As soon as I posted the last entry, my mom called me and told me they woke him up and pulled out the breathing tube and he’s breathing on his own!
This morning when I talked to her, they were talking tracheotomy, and were grim. They went from that to pulling out the tube and he’s awake… this is such a roller coaster.
So, I do have good news afterall. Thankfully.
