They need our help…

I was set to post about our Christmas and how that all went but the Tsunami that hit South-East Asia is weighing heavy on me. So I’m not much in the mood to post about how great our Christmas was or all the nifty things we got, when I know 5 million people are without their homes and loved ones at this very moment.

The feeling that I need to help in some way is overwhelming. I talked to Jack earlier and we’re going to send some money to help. (Edit: relief agencies have asked that only cash be sent at this time as they aren’t organized enough to handle supplies yet.)

I’ve never known of a disaster of this proportion in my lifetime, and I can’t even fathom what it’s like for all those people right now. The death toll is staggering. My brain can’t seem to wrap around the number and my heart can’t handle it at all.

I’m also thoroughly disgusted with the media coverage of this. When 9/11 happened, it was all you saw on the news for weeks. This is barely getting coverage! I can’t believe how many people didn’t even know about it till days after the fact, including myself! Edit: I had posted that there were rumors that the US only donated $400,000 for relief, but CNN is reporting the US donated 35 million.
