while i dont even bother to express that i know how the elecotral college works it is TAHT that elects the President NOT the people….if it WERE the people that silly assed Al Gore would have won…. All i Have to say is thank God Bush won over this new idiot the Democrats tried to faust off on us. you do NOT vote for the president UNLESS there is a Tie in the electorial college votes (possable both having 269 EC votes) then and ONLY then does the vote of the people (popular vote) come into play…..Lets put it this way The Poles in California Oregon AND Washington closed at 8:00 PM by 8:02 PM all 3 states had declared for Kerry BEFORE ANY VOTES HAD BEEN COUNTED !!!!!!!!! the Sec. of Each state gets to make the call to the Electoral college and declares based on who knows what. but it was evident that the peoples vote for the President dosent count for one bit.

I firmly believe the Electoral College needs to be eliminated. It had its use at one time but its definately outdated and doesn’t generally reflect the views of the people. If this is supposed to be a ‘democratic’ country and our opinions are supposed to matter, EVERY vote should count. The president shouldn’t be chosen minutes/hours after polls close, it should be when all votes are counted, whether that be a week or a month. When the results of the electoral vote and the results of the popular vote differ drastically, of course people are going to lose faith in their government.
