Beach Weekend Pictures
Ok, our site is (as far as I can tell at this point) 100% functional. Yay! The smilies work again. They aren’t the same ones and I haven’t figured out how to fix the old posts, but this works for now. Soon (when I’m not chicken) I’ll add more smilies. But since that’s how I broke them last time, I think I’ll wait for another rainy day (which we’ve had plenty of lately).
Ok, here’s the pictures I promised from our weekend getaway. Edit: Pictures are here: clicky
The “town” leading into and out of the covered bridge was small. Cathy, it made Troutlake look like a giant city, that’s how small it was. And for miles and miles along this whole stretch of road, there was nothing. A house every 2-3 miles or so, sometimes a falling-down barn or house. But mostly, there was nothing but beautiful scenery with tons of little rivers, creeks, and lakes. All breath-taking (even the broken houses/barns) in one way or another.
Testing New Install of Greymatter
:satisfied: :hehe:
Testing.. don’t mind me.
New Design
As you can probably tell, this is a new design. I created the whole thing off this picture that I took at the beach over the weekend (click for larger view):

I’ll post more of our trip tomorrow.
~ 35 ~
Welp, I’m 35. It sounds old… But I don’t feel old, and I know I don’t look old, so I guess 35 isn’t anything that different than 34. It just feels weird to say I’m 35… ‘Cause it *sounds* old. To me anyway.
We had the most awesome weekend. We took our time getting to the coast, ate fantastic food, walked along the beach, visited a billion shops including some really neat antique shops, purchased some new items to decorate our home, (including my birthday present of a beautiful hand carved wooden box to store my treasures), we snuggled and watched movies by the fire in our cozy hotel room right on the beach, then on the way home decided to take a different route and explore the beautiful scenery on the Washington side of the Columbia river. (We drove up north to Astoria and crossed into Washington from there.) It was a gorgeous and lazy drive. Not near as much traffic as the “normal” route to and from the Oregon coast and the scenery was just breath-taking. I love living in the Pacific Northwest. We have decided we’ll be taking the “long way” to the coast from now on.
Sunday night (my birthday) Jack and the kids spoiled me with cake and ice cream then it was bed time. We were all pretty exhausted after such a busy weekend. (The kids split up and half stayed with Grandma, and the other half stayed at Aunt Kellies… they all had a blast, too!)
Smell of Spring.. or something..
Well, it’s been both gorgeous and sunny and five minutes later gray and stormy almost all week. We had a glorious weekend though, and if they keep up like that I’ll be forced to get started on the pre-spring yardwork.
We’re basically replacing/reseeding half the lawn in the back yard. (Which means Dog Dog won’t be able to go back there for about two months.)
I’m debating cutting back the roses that we forgot to cut back last fall. The tree/bush things along the back fence need to be topped off. There are two monstrous piles of twigs and branches that need to be sifted through for viable kindling/fire wood then burned. The garden needs to be relocated to make way for the new lawn.
Oh.. and soon.. the WEEDING starts all over again! This year I’m not taking any prisoners. I played nice with the yard last year and tried to discern between weed and weed-esque plants. If it even REMOTELY resembles a weed this time it’s going. I’ll find some definitively NON-Weed-Like stuff to plant if I must.
Welp, that’s about it for what’s going on. Work work work work.. at work and at home the Thompson’s are busy as bees finishing up little projects and each day making our castle more of a home. I finished cleaning and organizing my Music/Computer room last weekend as well, marking the final step in unpacking from our move!
This weekend Tracie and I are going to Seaside for Tracie’s Birthday and to try to make up for the weekend we lost when poor Tracie was sick all weekend last time. Wish us luck! (The way the cold and flu bugs are flying around our house it’ll take a LOT for us to make it there without bringing a bug with us!)
