3200 Lights!
We’ve been buying up lights to decorate the outside of our house for about a month now. We decided to frame the house with purple lights and light up the bushes in front of our house with red. Then a blue swag light set in front of the garage. Ralph and Denise knew of our plans and seemed excited to help us.. (I mean, Ralph called last week and was like a kid saying “so can we come help with the lights this weekend??) hehe
So they came over early Saturday and we took a trip to Lowe’s. There we picked up a 60″ reindeer for the front yard and some other electrical gadgety stuff they boys said they needed. Then we went to Wal*Mart and got a few more decorations and lights for outside (and this is where we actually came up with the red on the bushes idea…) plus some ornaments for the tree.
We came home and took inventory of what we had then set about getting the lights on the house. The boys said they needed another part so they sent me & Denise to Fred Meyer. We came back and it was our job to get the bushes done. We didn’t have enough lights for the bushes. So Denise and I had to go back to Wal*Mart. Luckily they had JUST enough boxes left of the red lights we wanted so I bought them all and we came back home.
It took us all day to complete the project. But the end result was well worth it! Jack and I have never decorated a house like this before so it was a learning experience. It should be much easier next year.
Overall it was a fun day (despite the little frustrations here and there) and our house is positively glowing! Literally! lol
Today we’re taking all the kids and going with Ralph and Denise to go cut down our first REAL Christmas tree in years! I can’t wait!
Our Turkey Day
Our Thanksgiving was positively wonderful. I managed to get everything prepared and cooked on time… mostly. The turkey was a bit late. I was going to put it in at 11 but my mom insisted not to put it in till 1. So I did what she said and it was a bit late, lol. Dan said that was ok though, since mom’s turkeys are always late when she cooks them, I was just keeping tradition.
Everyone said the food was great. Most of my family was here as well as my dear friend Susan. The house was clean, decorated, and warm. It was a very special Thanksgiving.
I’m elected to host Christmas too. If it goes half as smoothly and peacefully, I’ll be beyond happy.
Now for the one and only negative about our Thanksgiving day: Cody was (is) sick.
He woke up twice in the middle of the night Wednesday night throwing up. I don’t think my little guy has ever thrown up since he’s become a toddler and it kinda freaked him out. He threw up four times total. He would say, “I don’t like it!” and, “I’m scared”.
Then he said, “Daddy, I sick…” in a very soft and quiet sad voice.
He slept most of Thanksgiving. Everyone kinda took turns babying him. If he wasn’t so sick I’d say he enjoyed all the attention but he was mostly just miserable. Today he’s not much better. He’s gagging and dry-heaving a lot. He’s got a slight fever but he’s drinking lots of pedialyte (1.5 quarts over the last 24 hours or so) and having lots of wet diapers so I know he’s not dehydrated. I can’t wait for this to pass. It’s so sad to see him like this…
Happy Thanksgiving!
I hope everyone has a very happy and wonderful Thanksgiving! Read more
Weee!
It’s still snowing! They are saying it’s not going to stay but… it hasn’t gone anywhere yet. They haven’t closed schools but they did cancel afternoon Kindergarten and all field trips.
Casey and Cody are so excited. I don’t think Cody has ever seen snow that he could remember. In fact,
I don’t think he’s ever seen snow at all. When I showed him, he said “what’s that?” then “we got to get that out” lol. I said it’s pretty and he said “yes, it’s pretty”. Then during breakfast, I pulled the blinds up in the breakfast nook and he squealed and said “it’s PRETTY! mom it’s PRETTY!” heheh such a cutie. Casey got himself dressed warm, boots on, hats on, staring out the window and asking every five minutes, “can we go out now?”.
I was supposed to work this morning but my power keeps flickering on and off. It’s happened 3 times so I called and asked what I should do. They excused me. Don’t want to risk me getting cut off in the middle of a call. So I’m off for this shift. Will try again this afternoon.
Edit: almost forgot to mention the dog’s reaction. He went nuts! LOL Randy’s only a year old so he has probably never seen snow either. He ran out and tried to bite the flakes coming down. Then he tried to chase it all across the yard. He sniffed and snorted a bunch of snow. Ate a bunch. Chased it all around. He’s having a ball. I got pictures. I’ll get more pictures when the kids go out. (Hope our camera will upload…)
I love snow. I hope it stays a while…
It’s SNOWING!!!
Maybe, just maybe, we’ll get some good snow? I hope so. It’s been so long…. Right now it’s coming down pretty good and just starting to stick. Will it last? You never know… it’s sooooooooooo pretty! I want 3 feet of snow please!
I just checked the weather forecast and all it says is lots of rain… but the temp has dropped considerably and it’s really snowing out there. I hope it stays! Man, this started like 20 minutes after Melissa got on the bus for school. I wonder if they’ll close school early? They do that around here. We get a half inch of snow and everyone panics.
But, then again, in ten minutes it could be gone. That happens around here a lot too.
Can you tell I’m excited? I LOVE SNOW!
