Teeth

The tooth is out. I went to another dentist since Gentle Dental didn’t seem concerned that I was in hellacious pain. They scheduled my next appointment for May 6th. Um, HELLO? I’m dying here… “Give the antibiodics time to work” … well, 24 hours later it was worse, not better and they really didn’t seem to think that was a problem… so, the new dentist, a wonderful older man that came highly recommended from one of Jack’s co-workers, saw me right away (no making me wait like Gentle Dental did, even though he had patients) and sent me over to an oral surgeon to have the tooth removed. He said that the odds were not good that they could re-treat the tooth (meaning do another root canal). The surgeon confirmed this and said I had 50/50 odds. So we got it out and hopefully I can put this behind me once I’m healed. I woke up today in a bit of pain, which was disappointing because I have very little tolerance left, but I should be thankful that it’s nothing compared to what it was.

In the meantime, I feel horribly disconnected from my family and kids. It’s like I’ve been living in this seperate world …. It’s been strange. Perhaps it’s all the pain meds, or the pain itself, or both. But I am now refusing to take anything other than Motrin and really really can’t wait for this to be behind me!

  1. I know the depression that can come after having a severe illness or trauma… I had that when I got my throat operated on. It gets better. You are a HUGE part of all our lives. Don’t ever think less than that. I know that the kids and I are thankful for you every day.

  2. I am glad you sought out another dentist and that he was able to help. Pain can be very disabling. I am sure you will be up and going strong again soon. You have had your trouble times 3 so once you are finished with the gallblader problem you should have a few months of smooth sailing. Right?

  3. Hang in there, Tracie! At least now all that hurts is the extraction site and that pain is better than the pain of all those living nerves screaming at you. Use a lot of ice on the point where your jawbone meets your ear on that side. Seemed to help me. Hope it works for you!
